You’ll walk into Fantastic Four: First Steps hoping for a grand comeback, and to some extent, you’ll get moments that spark excitement. But what will truly blow your mind is the post-credit scene. Trust me, it’s one of the most praise-worthy MCU teases in years, a cliffhanger so good, it might just make you forget the flaws for a minute. As far as the movie is concerned, I expected and wished for more, and if not anything else, then something deeper and deadlier.

The scene-stealer comes right at the end of the movie. When everybody else fails, it is the touch of the miraculous baby which saves the mother. The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ is indeed a bold, sharp and fantastic reboot which deserves every bit of your time. The message that the film tries to show that it is the love, chaos and sometimes differences of opinions is what keeps the whole family together and not the super powers. Long live the Fantastic Four; oops the Fantastic Five now!

It may seem all too familiar if you are just coming off the latest Superman. The difference is, unlike the chaos of that film from two weeks ago, you can slide into this Fantastic Four reboot, and feel safe and warm, like home.The fantastic four’s First Steps may not yet jump off the page, but hang on: those feet are meant for walking.

In a franchise often bogged down by formula, this one feels personal. The action delivers, no doubt—but it’s the emotional core that leaves an impact. Marvel may be telling a story about planetary destruction, but really, it’s about holding on to what matters when everything else is falling apart. It’s heartfelt, high-concept, and refreshingly focused. A rare MCU film that lets its heart lead the way.

And that hope is what sustains First Steps despite being a largely predictable outing. The visual effects look on point again. The aesthetics are there. The humour is very early Marvel, and the fight sequences are well-choreographed. Matt Shakman has tried to breathe life into the dying behemoth that the MCU is, and done it much better than Thunderbolts or Brave New World did. What is lacking is that killer punch. The fatigue for Marvel is so high that barely very good may not be enough to prop it back up.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Plot:

On Earth-828, four years have passed since Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm gained superhuman abilities from cosmic ray exposure on a space flight and became the superhero team known as the Fantastic Four. During a family dinner, Reed and Sue reveal to Grimm and Johnny that they are expecting a child. A few months later, the Silver Surfer suddenly appears to announce to the people of Earth that their planet has been marked for destruction by the planet-devouring cosmic being called Galactus. After studying numerous anomalies involving the disappearance of planets, the team decides to try and negotiate Earth’s fate with Galactus.
